Why I Use My Imagination

I’ve been fascinated with the human mind and mental illness since I was a teenager. After nearly 30 years working in the field, I sometimes feel defeated that our current treatments largely only treat symptoms and don’t actually heal the underlying illnesses. I also have a deep interest in psychopharmacology and a deep love for psychotherapy. The potential for psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, if used carefully and thoughtfully, to marry my two interests in a way that actually allows profound healing, and that may even cure some mental illnesses, is a notion that has reinvigorated my passion for the work.
