Jeffrey A. Berman, MD, DFASAM

Jeffrey A. Berman, MD, DFASAM, is the medical director of Addiction Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine at SOBA New Jersey in New Brunswick. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Dr. Berman is a diplomate and fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in adult, addiction, and consultation psychiatry. His special area of interest in practice, research, and teaching is pain management of the chemically dependent patient. He has served as a mentor for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA) Physician Clinical Support Service and participated in the National Institute on Drug Abuse’s (NIDA) clinical trials of buprenorphine/naloxone for the treatment of opioid dependence. He is a member of the Physician Assistant Advisory Committee of the NJ State Board of Medical Examiners.
